Chairman Komiyama’s memorial message on the passing of Mr. Shinzo Abe, Former Prime Minister of Japan; Honorary Chairman of the STS forum

We are still under the shock of the sudden loss of our great supporter, Shinzo Abe, Honorary Chairman of the STS forum.

Since his very first participation at the Third Annual Meeting of the STS forum in 2006, Shinzo Abe has been a regular contributor to our Annual Meetings. In 2014, he readily accepted to serve as our Honorary Chairman, and he showed real commitment to his function.

He truly believed in science himself, and year after year, his speeches has shown extraordinary depth and topical knowledge, showcasing concrete examples of how science and technology could change our lives for the better. All the while, he has never failed to charm the audience by including his own personal experience and incredible wit. We hope that his name will be engraved in people’s memories not just as a great Prime Minister of Japan, but also in association with the STS forum.

So soon after having lost our Founding Chairman, our Honorary Chairman’s demise only helps us reaffirm our strong commitment in never losing the STS forum.

Rest in Peace, Honorary Chairman Abe.

Hiroshi Komiyama, Chairman, STS forum
